Why Do People Believe In Horoscopes?

Something unexpected will catch you off guard at work this week. There may be some ups and downs in your personal relationships and love interest could enter your life soon if you open your eyes to it!

This is the Horoscope manipulation. Why sensible people like you and me?

It has to do with what experts call The Barnum effect. It is named after the famous showman P.T.Barnum who allegedly said “There is a sucker born every minute.” In a sense, the Barnum effect makes a “sucker” of all of us by making us believe that vague statements uniquely apply to us.

A survey by the American psychological association found that millennials have been the most stressed generation since 2014. And when we feel stressed…we turn to something that gives us a quick escape from reality. We bond over Zodiac sign jokes that make us feel connected.

When we read our Horoscopes we feel more in control because at least, they try to tell us what’s gonna happen next. When we believe that the positions of stars and planets affect our lives we also get an excuse to blame bad events on something beyond ourselves. When our fast-paced world becomes too noisy we turn to the cosmos to get an instant feeling of spiritual high and inner peace. Speaking of magic a lot of people consult the stars to find their soulmate.

Even those who enjoy astrology will be humble enough to admit that it’s not real science. But that doesn’t mean it can’t have a real power to add value to people’s lives! If taking comfort in the magic of the stars inspires you to be better every day or helps you with your breakup then by all means keep looking up in the night sky for answers.

Just don’t forget to look inside your own heart, follow the predictions of your own mind, and believe in the power of your own hands.

What does your horoscope say about you? Do you think it’s true?
